Job Description

Job Overview UMCCC is looking for an Assistant Teacher to join our team. This position is initially part-time, with the potential to transition to full-time based on program needs and the candidate's availability. The Assistant Teacher will primarily support our Waddler and Toddler classrooms, while also being available to assist in other classrooms as needed. The Assistant Teacher supports the Teachers and Director by helping to create a caring, safe, and engaging environment for children and assisting with activities that promote their overall care, development, and education. The Assistant Teacher must be able to communicate, listen, and work well with others in a team environment. This position works collaboratively with classroom teachers and the Director to implement a quality educational program and develop positive relationships with children and their families. Assistant Teachers assist with implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests, abilities, and individual needs under the direction of the classroom Teacher and Director. Duties Collaborate with colleagues as a team player to implement curriculum activities and encourage children's participation. Actively engage in classroom activities while maintaining cleanliness, organization, and availability of materials. Model positive behavior to encourage self-help skills and good hygiene practices. Support smooth daily transitions from home to the child care center. Follow all center policies and state regulations. Attend required staff meetings and training sessions. Utilize effective classroom management strategies to maintain a positive learning environment. Maintain ongoing communication with families and educators to support each child's development. Create a safe, welcoming environment that promotes exploration and play-based learning. Provide comprehensive care for toddlers and preschoolers, supporting their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Skills/Requirements High energy level and exceptional patience when working with children. Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities. Flexibility regarding classroom assignments and work schedule changes. Excellent oral and written communication skills, plus basic computer proficiency. Understanding of child development principles. Ability to pass comprehensive background check and health screening. Completion of 24 hours of online training within 90 days of hire. Nice to
