Instructional Assistant, Benhaven Career & Transition Services 3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars Wallingford, CT 06492 $20 - $22 an hour Benhaven Inc 47 reviews $20 - $22 an hour Benhaven Career & Transition Services is seeking an Instructional Assistant. The Instructional Assistant will support individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities in developing work maturity and life skills necessary to obtain and maintain meaningful employment. This position also provides individualized support in post-secondary education settings and throughout the community. All supports are person-centered and focus on achieving career and life goals that promote maximum independence for each individual. The Instructional Assistant will report directly to the Supervisor and/or Director.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8:45 AM - 3:15 PM (Nights and weekends as needed)
Key Responsibilities:
Provide on-site job coaching and employment support at community job and volunteer sites. Teach and reinforce workplace readiness, social skills, and daily living skills. Monitor performance, give feedback, and provide prompts. Implement teaching strategies, skill-building programs, and behavioral protocols. Follow individualized behavior support plans. Complete data collection and documentation accurately and on time. Model appropriate workplace behavior and hold individuals to consistent expectations. Maintain professionalism across diverse environments (job sites, volunteer programs, college campuses, and Benhaven facilities). Collaborate with supervisors, team members, employers, and community partners. Adapt to dynamic situations and follow established procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Experience and Skill Requirements:
Valid driver's license and insured vehicle for community transportation. Experience supporting individuals with autism and developmental disabilities. Experience implementing behavior support plans and teaching strategies. Ability to assist with personal hygiene and toileting when needed. Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills. Professionalism, flexibility, and a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma required, Bachelor's Degree preferred •If you have limited experience, please still consider applying. We provide a vast amount of training•
