Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting middle school students as a dedicated paraprofessional and behavior specialist for the remainder of the school year. This full-time contract position focuses on working closely with students with high needs, making a positive impact on their day-to-day classroom experiences. The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic educational environments, demonstrating patience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to student growth.
Key Qualifications:
Registered with DEEDS (Delaware Educator Data System) - required. Proven experience as a paraprofessional and/or behavior specialist in school settings. Confident and comfortable working with students exhibiting a range of challenging behaviors. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for collaborating with students, teachers, and support staff. Ability to handle crises, follow individualized support plans, and model positive behavior consistently.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide direct support to students with high needs during academic, behavioral, and social activities. Implement behavior intervention plans under the guidance of certified staff and therapists. Foster a supportive, structured classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and self-management. Record accurate data on behaviors and progress, contributing helpful insights to the educational team. Assist with classroom management, redirection, and daily routines to ensure a safe learning environment. Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions related to behavioral support. This role offers an hourly pay rate of $23 or more, along with access to a comprehensive benefits package.
