: The Brandon School District is a mid-size school district nestled in Northwest Oakland County. The district has approximately 900 students in junior kindergarten-5th grade between the two elementary schools, approximately 500 at the middle school level and approximately 600 at the high school. : An Adult Transition Program (ATP) helps young adults with disabilities (ages 18 to 26) bridge the gap between high school and independent adult life. Staff focus on building job skills, community participation, and daily living routines through hands-on learning.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
: High School Diploma Must be CPI trained or willing to be CPI trained within 30 days of hire and annually update certification Experience working with special education students ages 18-26 is preferred Experience with a diverse student and parent population is preferredKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
: Knowledge of secondary curriculum and instructional practices Proficient in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and compliance laws Proficient in the Seclusion and Restraint Michigan Department of Education law Knowledge of PBIS practices Exceptional interpersonal skills to build successful working relationships Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff and parents Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills Ability to successfully teach students with autism, emotional and/or cognitive impairment and those who require a higher level of behavioral support Ability to create a classroom schedule and adhere to a structured environment within the classroom Ability to coordinate paraprofessional staffCORE PROGRAM AREAS

Primarily assists students in the ATP kitchen baking cookies daily; anywhere from 12-16 dozen cookies are typically baked per day. Assists with covering the student lunch period. Creates an inviting and nurturing classroom that supports the needs of all learners academically, culturally, socially and emotionally Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes. Helps the student master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher. Guides independent study, enrichment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher. Serves as a source of information and helps any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher. Assist with running the program micro businesses Assist with managing program budget and purchases Conduct himself/herself in a professional manner commensurate with his/her position, and project a good public image of the School District in dealing with the community and employee groups Adhere to the District's policies Other duties as assignedREPORTS TO
