Job Description
Job Overview First Methodist Church of Frostproof Childcare is seeking a dependable, caring, and energetic Childcare Assistant Teacher to join our team immediately. Previous daycare or childcare experience is helpful, but we are also willing to consider candidates who have a genuine love for children, are dependable, and are willing to learn. The selected candidate will receive guidance while assisting experienced staff and supporting children throughout the day. This position may begin as an assistant or classroom support role. As the employee gains experience, completes required training, and demonstrates readiness, there may be an opportunity to take responsibility for their own classroom. Responsibilities Supervise children and help maintain a safe and caring environment. Engage children in age-appropriate games, crafts, lessons, and activities. Assist with meals, snacks, restroom needs, diapering, and personal care when applicable. Follow classroom schedules, routines, safety procedures, and childcare policies. Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom. Clean and sanitize toys, tables, activity areas, and classroom materials. Observe children's behavior and general well-being. Communicate respectfully with children, parents, coworkers, and management. Report accidents, injuries, behavioral concerns, or unusual situations to management. Assist in different classrooms when needed. Complete required childcare training and professional-development courses. Work toward independently managing a classroom when training and performance requirements are met. Qualifications A genuine love for children and an interest in helping them learn and grow. Previous daycare, preschool, church nursery, babysitting, or childcare experience is preferred. Formal teaching certification is not required . Must be dependable, punctual, patient, caring, and willing to learn. Must be able to follow instructions, classroom routines, safety procedures, and childcare policies. Must communicate professionally with parents, children, coworkers, and supervisors. Must be willing to complete all training required for the position. Must be able to pass all required background screenings. High school diploma or GED is preferred. Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification is preferred but is not required at the time of hire. Must be able to stand, bend, sit on the floor, and lift children or classroom materials when necessary. Must be comfortable working in a church-based childcare environment. .
