Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated VPK Assistant Teacher to join our early childhood education team! In this vital role, you will support the lead teacher in creating a nurturing, engaging, and educational environment for young learners in the Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program. Your enthusiasm and commitment will help foster a love for learning, promote social-emotional development, and ensure each child's individual needs are met. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children while gaining valuable classroom experience. Responsibilities Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and social skills activities Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and helping maintain a safe, organized learning environment Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote early childhood development, including language skills, motor skills, and social interactions Work closely with children with diverse needs, including those with disabilities or autism, providing personalized support as needed Help prepare classroom materials and educational resources to enhance lesson delivery and student engagement Foster effective communication with children, parents, and team members to ensure a collaborative approach to education Monitor and document children's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones for ongoing assessment Requirements Prior experience working with young children in daycare, preschool, or private school settings is highly preferred Knowledge of early childhood education principles, including childhood development and behavior management strategies Familiarity with special education practices and working with individuals with autism or disabilities is a plus Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues Ability to assist with lesson planning and curriculum development tailored to preschool learners Experience with classroom management techniques that promote positive behavior and engagement Certification or coursework in early childhood education or related fields is desirable but not mandatory; relevant training will be provided on the job Join us in shaping bright futures!
