Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
The ideal candidate will assist teachers in creating a supportive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment. This role will involve helping with classroom management, supporting students' academic needs, and providing individualized attention to students. The Teacher Assistant will collaborate with teachers and work closely with students to ensure their success in a positive learning atmosphere.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist teachers in planning, preparing, and delivering lessons for students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, etc.)
- Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students who need additional support.
- Foster an inclusive, engaging classroom environment that promotes student participation and achievement.
- Assist with classroom management and ensure a positive, respectful environment.
- Help assess student performance and provide feedback under the teacher's direction.
- Support teachers in maintaining accurate records of student progress and attendance.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives and staff meetings as needed.
- Help set up and maintain classroom materials, supplies, and displays.
- Assist in supervising students during recess, lunch, and other school activities.
- Provide emotional and behavioral support to students as needed.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE 1.
Subject Knowledge:
o Support early grades in literacy, basic math, social studies, science. o Assist with upper grades in advanced literacy, math (fractions, algebra), history, science. 2.Classroom Management:
Assist in maintaining a positive, respectful environment. Help with conflict resolution, establishing routines. 3.Instructional Strategies:
Support differentiated instruction and group activities. Provide timely feedback to students as directed by the teacher. 4.Technology Integration:
Familiarity with educational tools (Google Classroom, interactive whiteboards). Assist in promoting digital citizenship. 5.Communication Skills:
Clear verbal/written communication with students, parents, and staff. Active listening skills to understand student needs. 6.Collaboration:
Teamwork with teachers and staff. Participation in professional development and school initiatives. 7.Behavioral & Emotional Support:
Assist with supporting emotional/social development. Support special education accommodations (IEPs, 504s) as needed. 8.Adaptability:
Flexible with lesson plans and changes. Willingness to learn and adapt to various classroom settings. 9.Classroom Organization:
Help organize classroom materials and ensure efficient use of space. Assist with time management during lessons. 10.Professionalism:
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Adhere to school policies and child protection laws. 11.Cultural Competence:
Assist in fostering inclusive teaching practices and fostering diversity. 12.Problem-Solving:
Handling challenges and supporting critical thinking.QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree or higher preferred).
- Prior experience working with children in an educational setting (preferred).
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work with students of varying academic levels and needs.
- Passion for fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
- Adherence to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.

Salary and benefits will be provided in accordance with the School's established compensation and benefits policies. The work year and hours of employment will be determined by ENCCS guidelines.FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY
Job is non-exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.EVALUATION
