STARTING SALARY
Based on classification and pay plan for Classified employees: Grade 18 $16.68 p/h (HS Diploma and ParaPro min score 457 or 60 hrscollege credit in core curriculum) Grade 19 $17.06 p/h (AA / AS or higher)
SUMMARY/SCOPE/GOAL
To assist certified personnel in achieving instructional goals through participation in curricular activities and supervision of students.
QUALIFICATIONS PARAPROFESSIONAL I
(GRADE 18)
EDUCATION AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED:
• High School diploma or equivalent required. • Minimum of 60 semester hours from an accredited educational institution with at least 30 semester hours in general education core curriculum and/or child development and education or successful completion of the ParaPro test with a score of 457 or higher. • Experience working with children. • A Head Start Preschool assistant teacher must meet at least one of the these criteria: • Hold a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (preschool level); • Possess a State-awarded certificate that meets or exceeds CDA requirements; • Be enrolled in a program leading to an associate or bachelor’s degree; • Be enrolled in a CDA credential program, with the expectation of completion within 2 years of hire.
PREFERRED/DESIRED
PARAPROFESSIONAL II (GRADE 19)
EDUCATION AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED:
• Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited educational institution required. • Experience working with children.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
REQUIRED:
• Valid State Driver’s License.
