Job Description

La Prima Casa is seeking a qualified teacher assistant for the 2026-2027 academic school year (starting August 2026) in the following position: Teacher Assistant Interested applicants should have the following: 1. Previous experience with toddlers or kindergarteners (Montessori preferred, but not mandatory) 2. Bachelor's Degree (Preferred) 3. Eagerness to follow and implement the Montessori philosophy and curriculum faithfully 4. A strong work ethic, positive attitude and desire to be an effective team player 5. Hours:
8:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. We are a private school, but we follow the public school calendar as closely as possible. Role and Responsibilities Assist Lead Teacher with both long and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy Provide input for bi-annual assessment of children's development Keep accident reports Maintain confidentiality of all students Report any suspected child abuse immediately Arrange the classroom environment in accordance to program goal and philosophy Maintain a safe and healthy environment Inspect and replace damaged and lost material Attend in-service and staff meetings Meet all applicable licensing regulations Keep all appropriate records such as attendance and timesheets Conversational in English at a minimum Follow all regulations stated in the Employee Handbook Physical Requirements Frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements include the ability to see at close and distant range At times, may require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position. Fine motor manipulation Transportation time spent commuting between sites for meetings and trainings Must be able to lift and carry children to safety if needed Qualifications and Education Requirements Teacher Assistants must have: 40-clock-hour Introductory Child Care training comprised of Part I and Part II courses 5-clock-hour (or .5 Continue Education Units) Early Literacy and Language Development, within 1 year of employment 10-clock-hours of Annual In-service training completed between July 1 and June 30 each year Preferred Skills National Early Childhood Certificate - Active National Child Development Associate (CDA) or other early childhood credentials that meets or exceeds the requirements of the National CDA and is recognized by regulatory agencies in at least five (5) states. Recognition is determined by the Department. Formal Educational Qualifications
A.S., A.A.
degree or higher in Early Childhood Education/Child Development Associate's degree or higher WITH at least six (6) college credit hours in early childhood education/child development AND at least 480 hours experience in a child care setting serving children ages birth through eight (8). Active Birth through Five Child Care Credential (Formerly the Florida Child Development Associate Equivalency Credential (CDAE)): Active School-Age Child Care Credential (Formerly the Florida School-Age Certification)
