MISSION:
RCMA Mulberry Community Academy, a Title I Charter School in Polk County, is seeking an energetic and dependable Teacher Aide! Our expanding K-4 Charter School is located in Mulberry, Florida. Our school will serve approximately 200 children; our small size allows us to serve our students and their families on a personal level. PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under the direction of the Charter Academy Principal, function as a team to carry out teaching assignments. To work as a team to implement the approved Charter Academy Educational program components.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following; however, other duties may be assigned: Safeguards the health and safety of all scholars. Supports and works collaboratively with teachers so that scholars may achieve academically in the areas of language, literacy, math, social studies, science, arts, and physical development through classroom instruction utilizing approved curricula and strategies. Assists scholars in developing cognitive, social, emotional, and psychomotor skills appropriate to age, grade, and ability through daily instruction and related activities. Establishes a good rapport with scholars and parents. Communicates scholars' progress effectively with parents to facilitate meaningful two-way communication. Establishes and/or supports classroom routines and procedures during after-school time. Formulates scholarly behavior standards in the classroom, identifies causes of inappropriate behavior, and works to correct those behaviors utilizing available resources. Maintains weekly/monthly paperwork/documentation related to School Readiness and provides support during parent meetings. Works within a team environment to share resources and strategies in order to achieve optimal results for scholars' education and socio-emotional development.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty element satisfactorily while exercising independent judgment and discretion under the general supervision of the Afterschool Coordinator. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required. The individual must meet age, medical, moral character, and any other requirements as defined by the Florida Statutes. Florida Statute 231.02 requires all Charter School individuals to be fingerprinted. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
School Readiness requirement:
24 hours complete w/exams within 1 st 90 days. 8 hours

  • Identifying & Reporting Child Abuse Neglect 6 hours
  • Child Growth and Development 6 hours
  • Behavioral Observation and Screening 6 hours
  • Child Care Facility Rules & Regulations 5 hours
  • Understanding Developmentally Appropriate Practices 5 hours
  • School-Age Appropriate Practices
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Teacher Aide 1 Must have a minimum of 60 College credit hours or have passed the Parapro test as required by Chapter 231.02 Florida Statutes. A minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in an educational setting is preferred. Teacher Aide 2 Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree. A minimum of 1-3 years of experience working in an educational setting is preferred. Successful completion of the Paraprofessional Assessment (Parapro Test) is also preferred. Teacher Aide 3 Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. A minimum of 1-3 experience working in an educational setting is preferred. Successful completion of the Paraprofessional Assessment (Parapro Test) is also preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated understanding of child and adolescent development through documented experience and/or appropriate coursework. Demonstrates an educational commitment consistent with the learner-centered philosophy of the RCMA Charter Academy. Willingness to work in teams with degreed and non-degreed coworkers. Committed to pursuing a variety of effective instructional methods. Committed to the learning process of the student and family. Experience supporting families from under-resourced communities. Knowledgeable of state and local educational standards, curricula, and assessment systems. Experience with multicultural and diverse populations and settings.
