Position Summary The Program Assistant supports the Site Director in delivering high-quality, engaging, and inclusive daily programming. This role is primarily relational and participant-focused, emphasizing direct engagement with artists to support their experience, participation, and sense of belonging within the program. The Program Assistant works alongside the Site Director and team to help create a safe, structured, and encouraging environment where artists can thrive socially, emotionally, and creatively. This role does not include administrative responsibilities such as scheduling, registration, or data management, but instead centers on presence, support, and active participation in the program experience. Key Responsibilities Artist Engagement & Support Build consistent, meaningful relationships with artists, fostering trust, encouragement, and connection Provide individualized support to help artists engage successfully in daily programming Promote a culture where each artist feels seen, known, and valued Program Support & Facilitation Assist in the implementation of daily programming, including creative activities, skill-building sessions, and community experiences Support instructors and the Site Director during classes and activities Encourage active participation and engagement from all artists Environment & Culture Help cultivate a safe, inclusive, and positive atmosphere aligned with Kairos' values Model respect, patience, and encouragement in all interactions Contribute to a structured and welcoming program environment Behavioral & Emotional Support Recognize and respond to artists' emotional and behavioral needs with empathy and consistency Support behavior plans as directed by the Site Director Assist in maintaining a calm and regulated environment Team Collaboration Work collaboratively with the Site Director, staff, and volunteers to ensure a cohesive program experience Communicate relevant observations about artist engagement or needs to the Site Director Program Setup & Support Assist with preparing and resetting program spaces before and after activities Help ensure materials and spaces are ready to support a smooth program flow Skills & Qualifications Passion for working with individuals with varying abilities Strong relational and interpersonal skills Ability to remain patient, attentive, and flexible in a dynamic environment Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team Basic understanding of behavior support strategies (preferred but not required) Willingness to engage actively and consistently with artists throughout the day Alignment with Kairos' mission, vision, and values Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred Lominger Competencies The following competencies are essential for success in this role:Compassion:
