Exceptional Student Education (ESE)

Full-Time, Non-Instructional Support Personnel Position Summary:
The ESE Paraprofessional provides instructional, behavioral, and organizational support to students with disabilities under the supervision of certified instructional personnel and in accordance with students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Section 504 Plans, and school procedures. The paraprofessional assists in promoting student independence, academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and access to the general education curriculum within the least restrictive environment. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesStudent Support Assist students with disabilities in accessing classroom instruction and participating in school activities. Provide academic support under the direction of certified teachers. Reinforce skills and concepts taught by classroom teachers. Support student engagement, organization, task completion, and self-advocacy. Assist students in utilizing accommodations, assistive technology, and specialized instructional materials. Monitor and document student progress as directed. Behavioral Support Implement behavior intervention strategies and supports as directed by instructional staff. Promote positive behavior, self-regulation, and social skills development. Assist in de-escalating behavioral situations using approved school procedures and training. Maintain student dignity and confidentiality at all times. Classroom Support Provide support within general education classrooms, Learning Strategies classes, testing environments, and other educational settings as assigned. Assist teachers with preparation of instructional materials and classroom organization. Supervise students during instructional activities, transitions, and designated school functions. Support administration of assessments and accommodations as directed. ESE Compliance Support Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with FERPA and applicable laws. Assist with documentation related to service delivery and accommodations. Participate in training related to ESE procedures, accommodations, behavior supports, and student safety. Report concerns regarding student progress, behavior, or safety to appropriate staff members. Other Duties Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of ESE, administrators, or supervising teachers. QualificationsRequired High School Diploma or GED. Ability to work effectively with students with diverse learning, behavioral, emotional, and physical needs. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to follow written and verbal directions. Preferred Associate's Degree or higher. Experience working with children or adolescents in educational, behavioral, or community settings. Experience supporting students with disabilities. CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of child development and learning differences. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and staff. Ability to collect and maintain accurate documentation. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Ability to assist in implementing accommodations and behavioral supports. Proficiency with basic educational technology and computer applications. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, and move instructional materials and equipment up to 25 pounds. Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations. Ability to accompany and supervise students throughout the school campus. Work Environment The ESE Paraprofessional works in a variety of educational settings including general education classrooms, specialized instructional settings, testing environments, and school-sponsored activities. The position requires frequent interaction with students, teachers, administrators, related service providers, and parents. Performance Expectations The ESE Paraprofessional shall: Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and punctuality. Maintain student confidentiality and ethical conduct. Follow all district, school, and ESE procedures. Support inclusive educational practices and student independence. Foster a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment
Pay:
$35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
