A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.
Position Summary The Instructional Associate supports the classroom instructional leader in creating a positive, engaging, and safe learning environment for students in Kindergarten through fifth grade at The Foundations School. This position upholds professional conduct at all times while working directly with students, reinforcing classroom instruction, assisting with lesson preparation, supervising students, and contributing to the overall success of the school's mission and arts-integrated approach to education .
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work closely with the classroom instructional leader to implement lesson plans and work with groups of students toward clear and measurable learning objectives. Assist with preparations for lessons and setting the classroom, including sanitizing surfaces and light cleaning when needed. Assist with implementing arts-integrated learning opportunities, both with classroom instructional leader and in collaboration with Teaching Artists. Supervise students in a safe and respectful manner when classroom instructional leader is out of the classroom or otherwise occupied. Supervise students during lunch, recess and during the morning and afterschool hours to ensure safety, and plan and implement cooperative and enriching activities. Always be kind and respectful with students and maintain an understanding of Social Emotional Learning and Responsive Classroom approaches. Agree to participate in all applicable staff and program evaluations which includes program diagnostics as well as formative and summative assessments per program requirements including data required for Exceptional Studetn Education (ESE) Coordinator. Abide by all Policies and Procedures as established by CCE. Maintain excellent written and verbal communication with children, colleagues, and staff. Substitute for classroom teachers as needed. Communicates effectively with students, classroom instructional leaders, and colleagues to support student learning and growth. Maintain a classroom environment that is physically and emotionally safe for all students. Provide attentive and respectful supervision at all times, including during recess and after-school hours, to ensure student safety and promote positive, cooperative, and enriching activities. Attend all professional development workshops hosted by CCE Maintain professional conduct while engaging with students, staff, and families at The Foundations School (TFS), in accordance with the standards set by the Center for Creative Education (CCE) and outlined in the employee handbook. Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree preferred Minimum of 2 years relevant experience working with children in grades K-5 Arrive promptly, properly attired, and prepared to work with students. Professionally represent CCE at meetings and events. Have professional personal presentation including good hygiene, professional dress, and friendly attitude. Demonstrate reliability and consistency. Be aware of and comply with CCE's policies regarding photography, videography, and social media posts. CPR/First Aid preferred. Must successfully pass Level II background check. Must be cleared through E-Verify with Homeland Security to work in the United States. Must complete and pass the Child Abuse Reporting Training Certificate issued by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF).
