Part-Time/Full-Time (Based on Need) Position Summary Braselton Christian Academy is seeking a compassionate, organized, and knowledgeable Special Needs Support Specialist to provide individualized academic and developmental support for students with diverse learning needs. The specialist will assist students through targeted interventions, accommodations, and instructional support aligned with student needs, Individualized Education Program (IEP) recommendations, 504 plans, and educational assessments. The ideal candidate will be able to assess student needs, manage a rotating caseload, collaborate with teachers and families, and implement evidence-based instructional strategies to help students achieve academic growth and confidence. Essential ResponsibilitiesStudent Assessment & Support Planning Conduct informal academic assessments and progress monitoring to identify student strengths, challenges, and areas requiring intervention. Manage a rotating weekly caseload of students requiring specialized academic support. Review and implement recommendations from IEPs, 504 Plans, psychoeducational evaluations, and educational assessments. Develop individualized support plans based on student learning profiles. Track student progress and adjust interventions as needed. Individualized Academic Instruction Provide targeted one-on-one and small-group instruction in areas including: Reading comprehension and fluency Phonics and foundational literacy skills Writing skills and organization Mathematics concepts and problem-solving Study skills and executive functioning Assignment completion and academic confidence Instruction should be differentiated based on each student's learning style, academic level, and identified needs. IEP & Special Education Support Collaborate with classroom teachers to support implementation of accommodations and modifications. Assist in ensuring classroom instruction aligns with documented student needs. Provide feedback regarding student progress and areas of concern. Participate in student support meetings, parent conferences, and intervention discussions as needed. Maintain accurate documentation of services provided and student progress. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with: Head of School Special Education Coordinator Classroom teachers Behavioral support staff Parents/guardians Outside service providers when appropriate Communicate student progress, concerns, and recommendations professionally and confidentially. Behavioral & Developmental Support Support students with attention, executive functioning, sensory, communication, and behavioral needs. Reinforce positive behavior strategies and classroom expectations. Assist students in developing independence, self-advocacy, and confidence. Utilize trauma-informed and student-centered approaches. Compliance & Confidentiality Maintain strict confidentiality of student records and educational information in accordance with FERPA requirements. Maintain professional documentation of services, observations, and interventions. Follow Braselton Christian Academy policies, procedures, and Christian values. Preferred Qualifications Degree or coursework in Special Education, Education, Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or related field preferred. Experience working with students with learning differences, IEPs, ADHD, dyslexia, autism, or developmental needs. Knowledge of evidence-based reading instruction, phonics intervention, and math intervention strategies. Experience with academic assessments and progress monitoring preferred. Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Ability to work with students across multiple grade levels. Desired Skills Patient and compassionate approach with students.
