Position Summary:
The successful candidate will maintain a positive and professional attitude in interactions with students, parents, and colleagues, while demonstrating prompt and regular attendance. They will collaborate effectively with the lead teacher through weekly planning meetings, actively support classroom instruction, and assist with small group teaching. The candidate will follow the lead teacher's lesson plans, participate in professional development, manage daily attendance reporting, and prepare classroom materials and supplies. Additionally, they will supervise students during recess, lunch, and transitions, support lead teachers during parent meetings, and assist with special activities like community meetings and field trips.
Specific Duties Include:
Maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with students, parents, and colleagues. Collaborate with the lead teacher positively and effectively by having at least one weekly planning meeting. Actively monitor and support students during classroom instruction. Support Lead Teacher with small group instruction. Follow lesson plans provided by the lead teacher. Participate in professional development. Report classroom attendance to the front office daily and answer attendance-related emails from parents. Prepare materials and supplies (snacks, emergency bag, first aid) for classroom Actively participate in grade-level meetings, staff meetings, Key Team meetings, and Late Start day activities. Coordinate with the administrative assistant to secure a substitute teacher promptly for planned absences. Support Lead teachers during parent meetings and conferences. Ensure the safety of each student by supervising and engaging in recess, lunch, and transitions between classrooms. Support students with special activities such as community meetings and field trips. Support Lead Teachers with grading assignments as needed. Other duties as agreed upon by the Lead teacher and Associate Teacher Other duties as assigned by administration
Required Skills:
Ability to maintain Prompt and regular attendance Proficient in the use of technology support platforms/programs that will support student learning Experience with Orton-Gillingham phonics instruction preferred Experience with the philosophy of Responsive Classroom preferred
Minimum Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Education or related field) 2+ years' experience in a school setting The Associate Teacher, Primary School position is a salaried, ten-month position.
