RIVERDALE HEIGHTS ELEMENTARY
We have the following opening for the 2026-2027 school year: Special Education Paraeducator 5.25 paid hrs/day 8:45 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. $18.15/hour after 60-day probationary period Position includes cafeteria and recess supervision
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in areas related to the listed performance responsibilities preferred.

Building Principal
JOB GOAL
The special education aide will assist a certified teacher(s) in the supervision of an individual student with an Individual Education Plan and/or small groups of students, with physical, emotional, mental and/or communicative disabilities at an assigned school site and assist students in developing various self-help, social, and community skills.
JOB DUTIES
Assist in bus loading and unloading. Attend paraeducator meetings/training and serve on committees, as required. Carry out therapeutic regimens, such as behavior modification and personal development programs, under the supervision of special education instructors, psychologists, or speech-language pathologists. Clean classrooms, facilities, or work areas. Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts. Distribute teaching materials, such as textbooks, workbooks, papers, and pencils to students. Employ special educational strategies or techniques during instruction to improve the development of sensory- and perceptual-motor skills, language, cognition, or memory. Enforce administration policies and rules governing students. Assist teachers/students with homework and tests, and compute and record results, using answer sheets or electronic marking devices. Maintain student records (Medicaid, Medicare). Assist students with special educational needs. Monitor student performance. Assist with data collection. Set up classroom materials or equipment. Supervise school or student activities. Encourage the use of life skills. Assist students with personal hygiene, toileting, feeding, and/or help in the restroom. Assist other educational professionals with projects or research. Collaborate with other teaching professionals to implement educational programs. Create technology-based learning materials. Check email on a daily basis. Complete annual training modules. Assist with cafeteria/recess duties as assigned by the building principal. Maintain confidentiality. Other duties as assigned by school administrators.
