Basic Function:
To complete the duties, tasks, and responsibilities for the student or classroom/teacher for which he/she is assigned. Essential Performance Responsibilities Under the supervision and with instruction of the teacher, works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher. Assists in the operation and care of equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes, such as audio-visual equipment. Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher. Assists with the supervision of students. Supervises students on the playground, in the lunchroom, restrooms, halls, study halls, computer labs, and in those areas as requested. Assists students in the library, media center or in location of resource materials. Alerts the teacher to any problem or special information about individual and special students. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students. Assists in preparation, administration, and grading. Administers, scores, and records such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students. Monitors classes during teacher absences of short duration. Assists with clerical tasks as assigned. Assists with health and safety needs of special students. Communicates and cooperates with students, staff, and community members. Follows district policies, including those related to a drug-free school. Takes pride in one's work and is a positive, contributing member of an effective and efficient school operation. Presents appropriate appearance and maintains a neat and orderly work area. Demonstrates poise and calmness in stressful situations. Maintains good attendance and follows assigned work schedule, as developed by supervising teacher or administrator, in a timely manner. Accepts suggestions and constructive criticism in an appropriate manner. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by administration. Specifications/Qualifications All Title I school Associates (PK, Columbus & VA) must have an AA, CDA, Para or pass the Compass Testing. Other CCSD assigned trainings, including but not limited too; Bloodborne Pathogens, Chariton Code of Conduct, Chariton Tobacco & Substance Abuse, Right to Know, Medication Authorization, and Child Abuse. If required, must obtain Class D Chauffeur's license with a passenger endorsement (Endorsement 3), and appropriate screenings & DOT training.
