Yesterday Job Description PE Paraprofessional-4 Day Work Week Woodside Middle School/Saydel CSD Position Summary The Physical Education (PE) Paraprofessional supports the PE teacher in creating a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyle for all students. The PE Paraprofessional assists with instruction, supervision, organization of equipment, and student support during physical education classes and related activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the PE teacher in implementing daily lessons and activities. Supervise students during PE classes, fitness activities, and special events. Support students in following directions, participating appropriately, and demonstrating positive behavior. Assist students with varying physical, behavioral, and learning needs to ensure access to instruction and activities. Set up, organize, maintain, and store PE equipment and materials. Monitor student safety and help enforce school and gymnasium expectations. Assist with attendance, record keeping, and other clerical tasks as assigned. Provide supervision in locker rooms, hallways, and other designated areas as needed. Reinforce concepts of teamwork, sportsmanship, responsibility, and respect. Support school-wide behavior expectations and positive student engagement. Assist during assemblies, field days and other school events. Communicate concerns regarding student safety, behavior, or well-being to the PE teacher and administration. Perform other duties as assigned by the PE teacher, building administration, or district leadership. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience working with middle school-aged students is preferred. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, staff, and families. Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Physical ability to participate in and supervise a variety of physical activities. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of student supervision and behavior management strategies. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student information. Ability to support diverse learners in an inclusive environment. Commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive school culture. Ability to adapt to changing schedules and student needs. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Ability to participate in indoor and outdoor physical activities. Ability to lift and move physical education equipment as needed. Ability to supervise students in active environments for extended periods.
