Assistant Teacher - Be Part of Something Meaningful Elkader Childcare & Learning Center | Elkader, IA We are seeking dependable, caring, and motivated Assistant Teachers to join our team as we enter a new chapter of growth and stability. About the Opportunity This is not just a support role—it is an important part of building a strong, consistent classroom environment. Assistant Teachers play a key role in supporting lead teachers, maintaining routines, and helping create a safe, engaging space for children to learn and grow. You will be part of a team that values collaboration, reliability, and a shared commitment to providing high-quality care. Key Responsibilities Support the Lead Teacher in daily classroom activities and routines Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment Supervise and engage with children in a positive and nurturing way Assist with lesson activities and transitions throughout the day Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers Help ensure compliance with all licensing and safety requirements What Success Looks Like Strong, consistent classroom support and teamwork Positive relationships with children and families Reliability and flexibility in daily operations A safe, structured, and engaging environment for children Contribution to a positive and professional team culture Qualifications Experience working with children preferred, but not required Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude Ability to work well as part of a team Good communication and organizational skills Passion for early childhood care and development Must meet Iowa DHS requirements, including: CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Mandatory Child Abuse Reporter Training Background checks and required clearances Ongoing training as required by the state What We Offer Discounted childcare Opportunity to grow within the center Free hugs (a daily bonus) Free gym membership And more!
