Job Description

The Graettinger-Terril Community School District is seeking a caring, energetic, and student-focused Preschool Paraeducator to support early childhood learners in a positive and engaging educational environment. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the preschool teacher to support instruction, supervision, and the developmental needs of young learners. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the preschool teacher with daily classroom instruction and activities. Support students in academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and developmental growth. Work with individual students and small groups as directed by the teacher. Assist with classroom preparation, organization, and clean-up. Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, meals, and transitions. Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment. Assist students with personal care needs as necessary. Support implementation of behavior management strategies. Communicate effectively with staff and families while maintaining confidentiality. Perform other duties as assigned by the preschool teacher or administration. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Paraeducator certification or ability to obtain certification as required by Iowa law. Experience working with young children preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families. Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude. Successful completion of required background checks. Preferred Qualifications Experience in early childhood education or childcare settings. Knowledge of child development and early learning practices. CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
