Full-Time, 10-Month School Year Position Summary We are seeking a patient, energetic, and compassionate General Education Paraeducator to support our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) classroom. The TK Paraeducator works directly alongside the Lead Teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for young learners (typically ages 4–5) as they bridge the gap between preschool and traditional kindergarten. This role is essential in supporting early academic exploration, social-emotional growth, and the development of daily classroom routines. Key Responsibilities Instructional & Classroom Support Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and daily lesson plans. Work directly with students in small groups or one-on-one to reinforce foundational skills in literacy, math, and motor development. Help set up and facilitate learning centers, hands-on activities, and crafts. Actively engage with students during free play to model positive social interactions and language skills. Collaborate and communicate effectively with the Lead Teacher regarding student progress and behavioral observations. Student Care & Classroom Management Support students in learning and following classroom rules, routines, and transitions. Assist with daily classroom management, including redirecting off-task behavior using positive reinforcement strategies. Assist in keeping the classroom organized, clean, and safe for young children. Help students with personal care needs and daily routines, including putting on coats, tying shoes, washing hands, and bathroom transitions/accidents as needed. Supervise students during non-instructional times, including arrival, dismissal, snack/lunch time, and recess, ensuring their safety at all times. Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Prior experience working with young children (ages 4–6) in a childcare, preschool, or early elementary setting is highly preferred.
Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. A calm, patient, and warm demeanor when interacting with young children. Ability to take direction from the Lead Teacher while also demonstrating initiative to help where needed. Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced early childhood environment. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: Ability to frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit on the floor with students. Agility to move quickly to ensure student safety in the classroom and on the playground. Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs (e.g., classroom supplies or assisting a child).
