Job Description

Medical Assistant Skills Instructor Starting Pay:
$18/hr
Hours:
Multiple opportunities available -Monday through Friday (8a-9:30p)
PRN Reports To:
Healthcare Director
GENERAL SUMMARY
The duties of this position include but are not limited to: Lecturing on the Medical Assistant curriculum, communicating with IMA administration regarding student progress and class needs. IMA is a progressive learning environment and has students in person as well as virtual online students. The Medical Assistant Skills Instructor will need to be comfortable with technology that includes presenting lectures and other classroom activities in a virtual setting (training on the current technology and software used will be given by IMA staff). The Medical Assistant Skills Instructor must be comfortable with livestreaming lectures and other classroom activities. The Medical Assistant Skills Instructor may also teach and present materials outside of the established Medical Assistant curriculum.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lecturing in person and virtual students on Medical Assistant-based subjects Assisting the Lead Instructor with skills training Using computer programs including Microsoft Teams and Canvas Setting up and managing livestreams of classes Communicating the needs and progress of Medical Assistant classes with the Healthcare Director
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs all functions and fulfills all requirements of an IMA Medical Assistant Instructor Maintains and request training equipment Performs related tasks as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must have minimum 1-2 years' work experience in the field. Must hold current Medical Assistant certification. Knowledge of instructional techniques and methods utilized for teaching classes; Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations pertaining to medical assistant; Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally with the public, allied agencies, co-workers and staff; Ability to read and comprehend technical written material; Ability to instruct and evaluate technical, medical skills with a high degree of accuracy; Ability to organize time effectively to accomplish prescribed duties and additional tasks; Ability to engage and work with employees, other educational organizations, and the public with a positive, constructive attitude; Ability to perform skilled, technical, medical duties; Ability to learn new concepts in medical assistant; Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and orders; Ability to maintain a professional attitude when representing the Healthcare Department; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, assisting agencies, hospital personnel, and the public.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Incumbent must wear department-issued dress and safety uniforms or appropriate business attire while on duty and be responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of both dress and safety uniforms as well as any issued equipment;
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Much of the work is performed in a classroom environment and involves a combination of standing, walking and sitting; May be required to lift up to 20 lbs; The work requires the incumbent to operate IMA programs (Office, Canvas), move, and operate medical equipment.
