01/F/02 ($20.15/hour) to 01/F/04 ($21.80/hour) depending on verified experience for NEW to District Employees Transferring employees or former District employees hired into this role will be placed on the "F" letter grade of the Classified Salary Schedule , but the initial step placement will vary based on a variety of factors.
Classified Salary Schedule Benefits Information:
For positions that qualify, the District offers a benefit package that is valued at more than $10,000 annually. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and Public Employees' Retirement System (PERSI) and are provided to Classified employees who work at least half time (20 hours per week) or more in a regular position and to Certified employees with a .50 FTE or greater contract. JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Acceptable Experience & Training:
High school diploma or equivalent; and Must meet the Idaho Department of Education paraprofessional requirements which includes one or more of the following: Forty-eight college credits, an Associate's Degree, or successful completion of required assessments. Preferred experience in a classroom or instructional setting; Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge of:
Knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects, including instructional techniques and strategies; Familiarity with STEM curriculum materials and resources; Proficiency in instructional methods tailored to STEM education; Understanding of classroom management strategies and character education, as applied to STEM classrooms; Adhere to District policies, procedures, and safety protocols; Understanding of educational procedures and techniques for STEM instruction; Knowledge of behavior management strategies and character education; Proficiency in various STEM subject matters and computer operation.
Ability to:
Lead instruction, follow instructions, manage student groups, and follow District policies; Commit to supporting the District's educational philosophy; Complete required training and effective communication skills; Work effectively with children and maintain confidentiality; Operate classroom and office equipment, including computers; Establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, colleagues and families; Communicate effectively, both verbal and written; Demonstrate integrity and resourcefulness in task performance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The STEM Paraprofessional position within the Boise School District is designed to provide specialized classroom enrichment to students in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). STEM teachers aim to cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity. They facilitate hands-on learning experiences, integrate technology into lessons, and foster a collaborative and inquiry-based learning environment. The STEM Paraprofessional will provide supplementary instruction in STEM subjects within a classroom environment, while classroom teachers engage in designated common collaboration and planning time. This role includes preparing instructional materials and conducting STEM-related lessons. STEM paraprofessionals collaborate with teachers and specialists to ensure grade level enrichment of curriculum. Plan and deliver grade level appropriate enrichment lessons on STEM related topics; Assist students with STEM projects, experiments, and creative activities, including participation in STEM-oriented field trips and/or STEM nights; Collaborate with specialists (PE, Library, Music) and classroom teachers;
Event Preparation:
Collaborate and assist in preparing STEM-related classroom activities, STEM field trips, partnerships with community STEM organizations, and STEM nights; Ensure lessons and STEM activities enrich and do not overlap with district curriculum;
Professional Development:
Attend staff meetings, workshops, or other meetings relevant to STEM education as directed by the supervisor; Complete all required District Training; Assist with safety-related duties, such as playground and crosswalk monitoring; Other duties as assigned.
