Position Summary:
The Program Director/Instructor for the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program provides dynamic leadership in teaching, program administration, clinical partnership development, and student success. This role combines hands-on instruction with strategic program oversight to ensure students graduate career-ready while maintaining excellence in accreditation, curriculum innovation, and community healthcare partnerships. Key Responsibilities:
Deliver High-Impact Occupational Therapy Education Teach and evaluate Occupational Therapy Assistant coursework using engaging, student-centered instructional practices. Develop learning experiences that support diverse learning styles and promote student achievement and persistence. Provide academic advising, mentorship, and timely feedback to help students succeed academically and professionally. Maintain accurate student records, grading, and instructional documentation in compliance with college standards. Lead and Advance the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Provide administrative leadership for the OTA program, including curriculum oversight, strategic planning, and continuous program improvement. Ensure ongoing compliance with Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) standards and accreditation requirements. Develop, maintain, and manage clinical affiliation agreements, records, and documentation related to clinical education activities. Support program growth through collaboration with faculty, administrators, and external healthcare partners. Build Strong Clinical and Industry Partnerships Cultivate and maintain relationships with clinical sites, healthcare organizations, and industry professionals to expand student learning opportunities. Coordinate clinical education experiences that align with workforce and accreditation expectations. Stay current with occupational therapy industry trends, best practices, and professional standards to ensure program relevance. Represent the program through participation in professional organizations, conferences, and community engagement activities. Contribute to College and Professional Excellence Participate in college committees, curriculum development initiatives, faculty collaboration, and professional development activities. Support a positive, inclusive, and collaborative learning environment for students and colleagues. Ensure compliance with institutional policies, state and federal regulations, and instructional procedures. Contribute to the mission of College of Western Idaho by promoting student success and workforce readiness.
What We're Looking For:
Master's degree in Occupational Therapy required. Current Idaho Occupational Therapist licensure and initial NBCOT certification required. Minimum of five years of clinical occupational therapy experience, including supervision and collaboration with Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs). Minimum of two years of full-time postsecondary teaching experience in an Occupational Therapy or Occupational Therapy Assistant program, including curriculum development and program administration. Ability to obtain an Idaho State Professional-Technical Teaching Certificate required. Experience in higher education, clinical instruction, staff training, and professional presentations preferred. Demonstrated administrative and organizational experience, including program development, personnel and budget management, accreditation, and program evaluation. AOTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor certification preferred. Established professional network to support student clinical placement opportunities preferred. Active involvement in state and national occupational professional therapy organizations. Current driver's license and BLS certification required. Additional Instructions for
