Job Announcement Pre-Kinder Bilingual/ESL Instructional Assistant The position of a Pre-Kinder Bilingual/ESL Instructional Assistant is available at East Central ISD for the 2026-2027 school year. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. Position Function/Purpose:

Assist Bilingual and/or ESL teachers in preparation and management of the classroom environment, and instructional support. Work under the supervision of a certified teacher and campus administrator.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays. Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments. Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment. Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers. Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups. Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside, and outside the classroom. This includes the lunchroom, bus, and outside duty. Keep the teacher informed of the special needs or problems of individual students. Participate in staff development on sheltered instruction, and language acquisition strategies, and other training to improve job performance. Have regular attendance. Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the supplemental position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Educational/Certification:

High school graduate or equivalent Must have one of the following: 48 college hours with some emphasis on child growth or development or related area Treasuring our Paraprofessionals certificate (must be obtained prior to employment; applicant is responsible for all associated costs)

Educational Aide Certificate Special Knowledge/Skills:

Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, collaborative, and interpersonal skills Perform duties with minimum supervision Be fluent in English and Spanish, both orally and in writing

EQUIPMENT USED

Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals, standard instructional equipment

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions. Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Frequent standing, stooping, bending/stooping, kneeling/squatting, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Frequent walking and reaching. Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds or over) and positioning of students with physical disabilities, controlling behavior through physical restraint, assisting non-ambulatory students, and lifting and moving adaptive and other classroom equipment. Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise. Exposure to biological hazards; exposure to biological hazards.
