Job Description

Paraprofessional Westminster Christian Education Corporation 1000 North Randall Road, Elgin, IL 60124 $15.50 an hour $15.50 an hour Summary The Paraeducator will spend each day in the classroom supporting the classroom teacher. Invest in the lives of children by demonstrating Christ's love and personal growing relationship with Christ. Skillfully integrates a Biblical worldview into daily classroom interactions to help create a classroom environment that is relevant, engaging, and promotes purposeful hands-on learning for every student. Help develop a culture of curiosity, creativity, exploration and discovery while creating a collaborative relationship with parents and staff. Scope of Role N/A Essential Roles & Responsibilities include but not limited to: Instruction & Student Learning Support the classroom teacher with goal setting, implementation of lesson plans and monitoring student progress, driving classroom and individual instruction, and to effectively communicate learning goals with parents. Assist in the preparation of materials used in instructional activities, including organization and inventory of classroom supplies. Maintaining a safe and well-ordered classroom. Give full attention to the class and provide supervision as assigned, i.e. during extracurricular activities, play areas, outings, etc. Guide children in personal hygiene Ensure all safety, health, and maintenance needs (i.e. vomit, light bulbs, etc.) that are observed are reported immediately to appropriate individuals. Seek and accept constructive evaluation of his/her job performance. Spiritual Formation Encourage spiritual development through prayer, Bible study, and intentional faith integration in lessons. Model Christian values by fostering a Christ-centered learning community. Demonstrate a personal commitment through active participation in a local Bible-based church. Collaboration & Communication Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and needs. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance instructional strategies and maintain academic excellence. Professional & School Engagement Participate in school events, chapels, staff meetings, and extracurricular activities. Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional, spiritual, and instructional growth. Uphold school policies, procedures, and the mission of River Valley Christian School.

Abilities Required:
Must have completed the ACSI Principles and Practices of Christian Early Education course requirements within the first year of employment Maintain current infant/child CPR and First Aid certification or is willing to participate in a program to complete certification within a specific period of time Strong organizational skills Classroom skills that promote sharing, fun and a positive learning culture Problem-solving skills, flexibility, and the ability to address challenges effectively Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills Ability to resolve conflicts while working collaboratively with coworkers and parents Ability to integrate biblical principles into classroom environment Commitment to modeling Christlike character and fostering spiritual growth and a genuine love for students Demonstrates honesty, integrity, patience, and the fruit of the Spirit in all interactions Accountability to work with excellence, responsibility, and reliability
Education and Experience:
High School diploma and have completed at least six (6) semester units or equivalent units of early childhood education or child development core classes at an accredited college o A preschool Associate's Credential (PAC) or Child Development Associate (CDA) or equivalent is also acceptable. Bachelor's degree preferred Prior experience with young children in an educational setting is preferred Salary Information Starting rate at $15.50 per hour
