A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.

High School diploma or equivalent Illinois Paraprofessional License is required Must be fluent in English and in Spanish particularly in the areas of Speaking, Reading, and Writing 30 college hours preferred Must be flexible and adaptable to surroundings and situations Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Computer experience preferred Responsibilities /Duties:
Must perform all responsibilities in a professional manner consistent with district policy and practices. Assist in facilitating the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. Assist in establishing a positive learning environment and respond to the individual needs of students. Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents. Assisting teachers/classroom with student behaviors and academics Provide language support for students assigned to English Learner Team. Assisting classroom teachers with accommodated materials. Assist in the translation of documents when asked. Work individually with students during approved time. Other responsibilities as assigned.Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (involving the ability to stoop, bend, and reach as needed). Ability to occasionally move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials. Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting.Job Type:
