Job Description

This is an Associate Faculty position in the Allied Health department at JWCC in Quincy, Illinois. Associate Faculty positions are non-tenure track faculty serving in a temporary or auxiliary capacity to teach specific courses on a course-by-course basis. Position begins August 2026.
JOB DESCRIPTION
John Wood Community College (JWCC) is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructor to teach classes in the Certified Medical Assistant program. Ideal candidates will have a passion for student success, the ability to create an inclusive learning environment, and a commitment to academic excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver engaging and comprehensive instruction in both theoretical and clinical nursing courses aligned with the CMA curriculum. Supervise, guide, and evaluate CMA students in clinical settings, promoting the development of clinical competence and professional behavior. Coordinate clinical schedules with community partners to ensure students attain required clinical experiences. Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that align with program objectives and meet curriculum standards. Provide timely feedback and academic support to help students achieve learning outcomes. Maintain accurate records of student performance, including attendance, grades, and clinical evaluations. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that respects diversity and promotes equity among students. Comply with institutional policies and curriculum requirements for CMA education and clinical practice.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Associate degree required. Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois.
Preferred experience:
A minimum of three years of employment in a healthcare facility. Familiarity with online learning platforms (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, or similar LMS).
Skills and Competencies:
Strong clinical expertise in CMA practice and patient care. Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor students effectively in both classroom and clinical environments. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt to different learning styles and provide individualized support to diverse learners. Familiarity with current CMA education trends, simulation technologies, and curriculum standards.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a part-time position with flexible teaching hours, including both classroom instruction and clinical rotations. Clinicals may take place during the day, evening, or weekends, depending on the program's needs.
SALARY:
This position has an estimated salary range of $539.00 - $711.00 per load hour. Salary within the estimated range is determined by education and experience.
