We believe that children are capable and best served when families partner with educators to create a lifelong love of learning. Position Summary:
Responsible for assisting the lead teacher in developing and implementing a program of activities that promotes the social, emotional, and physical development of each child. The duties and responsibilities will be carried out under the direction of the lead teacher. Qualified candidates would be nurturing, outgoing, active, and willing to learn how to care for children aged two-five.
Hours:
Full time and year round. Typically Monday
- Friday from 7:30 am
- 3:30 pm year round. (Subbing hours available 3:30
- 6:00 pm Monday-Thursday.
)
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED (copy required) Prefer to have 6 months experience in working with young children Prefer coursework in early childhood education or child development Must demonstrate success in working as a member of a team Must demonstrate the ability to work well with young children Must be able to supply a yearly certificate of good health
Helpful:
Be willing to work flexible hours in order to meet the needs of the program
Physical Requirements:
Be able to lift and carry 35 lbs Be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children's health and safety Be able to keep up with active, young children
Required:
Updated Medical Health Report with evidence of MMR vaccination and TB testing Will need to complete a Criminal Background Check (including fingerprinting) Will need to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate Will need to complete Mandated Reporter training and Gateways to Opportunity registration High school diploma or GED (copy required)
Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsible for assisting the lead teacher with the full implementation of, policies and procedures, regulations, and guidelines in the day-to-day operation of an early childhood development center including developmentally appropriate practices for a preschool program. Participate in staff meetings, preschool activities, and staff development. Develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self-esteem and self-discipline. Assist lead teacher in planning and implementing the daily program of activities based on principles of child development and in accordance with the program's curriculum. Establish a positive relationship with each child's family and share information about the child's day at school. Perform other duties as required or assigned.
