In this vital role, you will support classroom teachers by providing individualized assistance to students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and behavioral challenges. RESPONSIBILITIES

Administers and scores academic assessments as the teacher recommends for individual students. Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills as assigned by teachers. Works with students to keep them regulated. Corrects papers and supervises testing and make-up work as assigned by the teachers. Assist with large group activities. Serves as a source of information and helps any substitute assigned in the absence of the regular teacher. Alerts the regular teachers to any problem or special information about the students. Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected by the certified classroom teacher. Helps in the preparation of materials and resources to meet classroom learning needs. Performs other related duties as assigned in a timely manner. Accepts suggestions from staff to help with student behavior and academics. Follow through with strategies or modifications. Demonstrate a positive and professional image by: a) Displaying a positive attitude. b) Complying with work schedule or time off. c) Communicating honestly and directly with co-workers and supervisors. d) Utilizing proper chain of command for complaints and/or concerns. e) Adhering to Lumen Academy policy and procedures at all times. Demonstrate an ongoing interest and desire to further knowledge and skills to better perform job duties and responsibilities by attending outside professional development.
