Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher Assistant to join our educational team. In this vital role, you will support classroom teachers in creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for students with diverse needs. Responsibilities Assist classroom teachers with implementing lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and early childhood education programs such as Montessori or preschool activities Provide physical assistance and behavioral support for students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities Support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) by helping meet their specific learning goals and behavioral needs Engage in classroom management strategies to promote positive behavior and support students with behavioral disorders or special education needs Use American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication techniques to facilitate effective interaction with students who are deaf or have communication challenges Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement curriculum adaptations and behavioral interventions Assist with classroom organization, lesson planning, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment for all students Skills Strong understanding of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices Experience working with children, especially those with disabilities or special education needs Knowledge of behavior management techniques tailored for students with behavioral disorders or autism spectrum disorders Proficiency in classroom management and support strategies within special education settings Familiarity with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) guidelines and compliance requirements Excellent communication skills for collaborating effectively with colleagues, parents, and specialists Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and professionally Basic math skills for assisting in instructional activities and student assessments Experience supporting literacy education, curriculum development, lesson planning, and preschool or toddler care Competence in providing physical assistance as needed for students requiring additional support during daily activities Join us to be part of a passionate team committed to empowering every student through personalized support, innovative teaching methods, and a nurturing environment. $10.00 - $14.00 per hour
