Overview Join the Duneland YMCA team as a Before School Program Assistant and play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children before their school day begins. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with young learners, fostering their growth through structured activities, positive interactions, and supportive supervision. Your energy, enthusiasm, and dedication will help set the tone for a successful day for every child in your care. Duties Supervise children in a safe and welcoming environment prior to the start of the school day Implement engaging activities that promote social, emotional, and physical development Manage classroom behavior using positive discipline and effective behavior management techniques Ensure adherence to safety protocols, including first aid procedures and emergency response plans Assist with daily routines such as snack time, bathroom breaks, and organizing materials for activities Collaborate with teachers and staff to support individual needs, including those related to special education or childhood development Maintain accurate attendance records and communicate any concerns or incidents promptly Skills Strong classroom management skills with the ability to foster a positive learning environment Willingness to get certified in first aid, CPR, AED Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, including daycare or camp experience Background in early childhood education or childhood development principles Ability to implement behavior management strategies tailored to young children Experience with tutoring, youth programs teaching, or special education is a plus Excellent communication skills to collaborate with staff, parents, and children effectively Embark on a rewarding journey where your dedication helps shape bright futures!
