reviews $13•$16 an hour•Part-time We are seeking a caring, energetic, and collaborative Assistant Teacher to support our preschool classroom (ages 3-5) during our half-day program. The Assistant Teacher will work closely alongside the Lead Teacher to help plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate activities aligned with the HighScope Curriculum . This role also includes supporting children during weekly swimming lessons and promoting a safe, nurturing learning environment that encourages exploration, independence, and positive social interaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Lead Teacher in the daily planning, preparation, and facilitation of activities based on the HighScope Curriculum. Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment that promotes each child's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development. Assist in setting up and cleaning up classroom materials and learning centers. Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, snack time, and weekly swim lessons. Observe and document children's development and behavior, sharing relevant information with the Lead Teacher. Help manage classroom transitions smoothly and respectfully. Maintain open, respectful communication with children, families, and team members. Model and support positive behavior, conflict resolution, and independence in children.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or degree in Early Childhood Education preferred. Experience working with preschool-aged children (ages 3-5) in a group setting. Familiarity with or willingness to learn the HighScope Curriculum . Current CPR/First Aid certification Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and be active throughout the day.
Work Environment:
Part-time, half-day schedule (morning only) Indoor and outdoor classroom settings. Weekly swimming program included during scheduled hours. Join our team and help create a joyful, enriching environment where young children grow and thrive!
