The role of the Instructional Assistant is to assist classroom teachers in the instructional process, reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom environment. Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of daily processes and provide student support with academic and/or physical needs. Essential Functions Work effectively and efficiently to engage all students Be receptive to guidance on job responsibilities from classroom teachers and directors Work in a positive and calming manner with students Work in a professional manner with all staff and as a team member Be punctual in attendance Communicate with the teacher regarding pertinent information in regards to students Document information as directed by the teacher Maintain confidentiality on all special education students Requirements Preferred experience working with students with autism/special education setting Basic understanding of Individual Education Plans and Behavior Intervention Plans Willing to be flexible as the classroom needs require Embrace challenge in assisting the classroom teacher with achieving effective outcomes/high growth for all ability levels.
