08/24/2026 About this opportunity: Ball State University is seeking a full-time, non-tenure-track position for an Assistant Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of English beginning August 2026 to teach four classes each semester primarily in our award-winning writing program. This position will be a one-year contract with possibility of renewal. Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship. What you'll do and what you will bring:Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach four classes each semester primarily in our award-winning writing program. Instructors may also be assigned to teach courses in English Education, literature, creative writing, applied linguistics, or professional writing depending on faculty expertise and departmental needs.Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or related field from an accredited college or university by date of appointment and at least one year experience teaching writing at the college level. (Rank/title:
Assistant Lecturer with MA.)Preferred Qualifications:
ABD or terminal degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or related field from an accredited college or university by date of appointment; three or more years' experience teaching writing at the college level; experience with teaching or scholarship in one or more of these areas: Early American Literature, English Education (with experience teaching ELA in middle and/or high school and/or experience in secondary writing instruction), Diverse or Global Rhetorics, and/or 20th Century Modernist Literature.
