St. John the Baptist, New Haven - Resource Room Instructional Assistant

St. John's Catholic School New Haven, is looking for a Resource Room Instructional Assistant. The assistant will be responsible for integrating the mission of St. John's Catholic School and the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend in all planning, teaching, grading, and in all school duties for the betterment of our students.

Hours:

Monday through Friday offering full time.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide responsible support by assisting resource room teachers or classroom teachers to achieve instructional objectives and assisting students with learning disabilities.

ESSENTIAL TASKS

Deliver educational support in a patient and caring manner for students of all learning styles and abilities. Model the Catholic Faith through their example and Christian living. View each student as a unique individual created by God and placed in our care to love, nurture, and educate. Assist resource director in performing specific duties as assigned to achieve and enhance students' instructional and behavioral objectives. Work with individuals, small groups, or large groups as assigned by the director. Monitor students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment. Provide educational interventions as developed by teachers. Report student concerns directly to the teacher and assist with student resolution. Maintain various records and files. Perform related work as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED required. Some experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Significant standing; some walking, navigating stairs, moving, climbing, bending, kneeling, reaching and gentle handling.
