Full-time Description:
The paraprofessional provides academic, behavioral, and organizational support to students with IEPs in both a resource study hall setting and inclusive general education classrooms. This individual works with special education and general education teachers to reinforce instructional content, promote student independence, and foster a positive learning environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide direct support to students with IEPs in completing assignments, studying for assessments, and organizing materials. Reinforce study and executive functioning skills, such as time management, task prioritization, and goal setting. Monitor student progress and engagement, providing feedback to case managers and teachers. Maintain a structured, supportive, and respectful environment conducive to academic success. Assist students in accessing general education curriculum by clarifying instructions, rephrasing content, and modifying assignments as needed under teacher guidance. Encourage student participation, focus, and perseverance during instruction. Collaborate with general education teachers to support differentiation and accommodations. Foster inclusion and support appropriate peer interactions. Maintain regular communication with building staff and parents. Support implementation of IEP accommodations and behavior plans. Participate in team meetings, professional development, and training sessions. Track student needs and services, documenting progress as required.
