About Us We are a nurturing and engaging preschool serving children ages 3-5, focused on providing enriching learning opportunities that support the whole child -- socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically. We value play-based, developmentally appropriate learning. As a Catholic school, we are committed to helping children grow in faith, kindness, and character through a values-based education rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Churtch, and we're looking for a dedicated Preschool Assistant Teacher to join our collaborative team. Position Overview The Preschool Assistant Teacher will support the Lead Teacher in creating a warm, responsive classroom environment that fosters curiosity, kindness, independence, faith, and learning. The assistant will help implement educational programs, facilitate play, and guide children through everyday classroom routines and social-emotional learning moments. Key Responsibilities Support the Lead Teacher in providing developmentally appropriate learning experiences in literacy, math, social/emotional growth, and play based learning. Help integrate Catholic faith-based values into the classroom, including leading or participating in daily prayers, Bible Stories, and lessons from the Catholic Religious Curriculum. Model and encourage Christian behaviors and moral decision-making in daily interactions with students. Assist with implementing educational activities for small groups or individual students. Promote positive behavior by modeling problem-solving and guiding students through conflict resolution and behavioral learning moments. Foster oral communications by engaging students in meaningful conversation, listening to them read, and encouraging peer interaction. Actively engage with students during indoor play by asking open-ended questions that encourage critical thinking. Support outdoor gross motor skill development through play and structured activities. Encourage healthy habits by assisting with handwashing, meal setup, and conversations about nutrition Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom that reflects the values of our school. Step into the role of the Lead Teacher when needed due to absence or other obligations. Assist with classroom prep, learning materials, and activity organization (especially during rest time). Participate in ongoing professional development, staff meetings, and training sessions. Communicate effectively and professionally with children, colleagues, and families. Build strong relationships with students and colleagues through respectful and inclusive practices. Assist with daily routines including transitions, snack, and outdoor time. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or administration. Follow all licensing regulations and health/safety procedures as required by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE). Qualifications Experience working with preschool aged children (ages 2.5-5) preferred. Familiarity with and commitment to Catholic teachings, values, and traditions (willing to learn). Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and take direction from lead teachers and administration. Willingness to be flexible with scheduling between 7:15am-5:45pm. Commitment to creating an inclusive, equitable, and respectful learning environment. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). High school diploma or equivalent required; early childhood coursework a plus. Why Join Us?
