Job Description

Summary We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team at the Pratt Academic Center as a PAC Media Center Specialist/Building Paraprofessional. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational environment by managing the media center, assisting students and staff, and fostering a love for learning. Your passion for education and ability to work collaboratively will help create a dynamic and engaging space for all. Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of the media center, ensuring a welcoming and organized environment for students and staff. Assist students in locating and utilizing resources, including books, and technology to support their academic needs. Collaborate with teachers to integrate media resources into lesson plans and support curriculum development. Provide instruction on media literacy, research skills, and responsible technology use to students of varying age groups. Maintain an inventory of media center materials, including books, and technology, ensuring they are up-to-date and in good condition. Monitor student behavior in the media center, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all users. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and technology. Perform additional duties as assigned by the administration to support the overall mission of the Pratt Academic Center. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Previous experience working in an educational setting, particularly in a library or media center, is highly desirable. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents. Proficiency in using technology, including computers, software applications, and digital resources. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute positively to the school environment. Knowledge of current educational practices and trends in media literacy and technology integration. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of Pratt Academic Center. Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
