Do you want to make a difference in the life of a student? Our school is seeking caring, consistent, adults to join our paraeducator team. Paraeducators work closely with teachers to provide extra support to students.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Re-teaches and helps students review social-emotional lessons and/or instruction from other academic areas as needed. Utilizes positive behavior supports in order to assist in the prevention of and response to acute student behaviors. Utilizes appropriate strategies to assist in de-escalating student behaviors as needed. Utilizes Emergency Safety Interventions techniques if there is an immediate danger of physical harm to a student or adult. Provide support to students who require specially designed programming in order to engage in academic tasks and comply with general conduct requirements in a general education setting. Provides one-on-one and/or small group support to students the majority of the school day. Models desired behaviors (e.g. conversation, manners, cleaning activities, listening, everyday interactions, etc.) for students in multiple settings. Assist with adapting classroom activities, assignments, and materials to support and reinforce classroom objectives while working under the direction of the licensed staff member. Utilizes effective communication skills with a variety of individuals (e.g. supervising instructional staff, professional support personnel, etc.) supporting the implementation of IEP objectives and evaluation of student progress. Attends assigned meetings to acquire and convey information relative to job functions. Complete documents regarding student(s) daily activities for the purpose of completing daily logs and student's hourly activities. Implements behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions to reinforce learning concepts. Remains with students at all times ensuring the safety of students, removes students when necessary, and de-escalating situations outside the classroom. Reports incidents for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment, and adhering to State Law and school policies as a mandated reporter. Work cooperatively with all staff on various tasks and/or assignments. Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Successful Candidates Pass a background check Have a current TB test Possess a high school diploma or equivalent Complete 48 college credits OR have an associate's degree OR Pass a State approved assessment Are strong team players Possess basic computer and math skills Must enjoy a fast pace environment Can spend 80% of their day standing and 20% walking
