QUALIFICATIONS
Passing scores on the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment OR the equivalant of an Associates Degree or above; responsible and varied experience at working with children; possess the necessary literacy and/or mathematics skills to fulfill the performance responsibilities of the job; good health as evidenced by a physical exam.

Principal and Title I Coordinator
PRIMARY JOB GOAL
To collaboratively assist the assigned teacher(s) in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment in order that students can take full advantage of the instructional program as well as available resource materials; to assist the teacher(s) in helping the identified Title I students reach the same academic expectations as all students.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Good knowledge and understanding of child growth and development; good knowledge of paraeducator instructional procedures and practices; good knowledge of the federal and state Title I guidelines; good knowledge of the instructional goals and policies of public schools; good knowledge of subject matter reinforcement practices of the classes to which assigned; ability to co-plan and implement teachers' instructional plan in assigned field; considerable patience and ability to work effectively with children, young adults, and faculty members; ability to assist in the implementation of an instructional program and to participate in monitoring and ensuring appropriate student behavior; ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to follow written and oral instructions and to perform all required tasks; ability to develop effective working relationships with the entire school community; ability to move about to monitor students and check work in classrooms with a varied seating and desk organization.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participates collaboratively in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning for Title I students keeping in mind the Title I students have the same educational objectives as the non-Title I students.
  • Confers with teacher concerning programs and materials to meet student needs.
  • Reads to identified students, listens to identified students read, and participates in other forms of oral communication with identified students.
  • Works with the identified students in math skills.
  • Guides Title I students in working/playing harmoniously with other students.
  • Alerts the teacher to the special needs of each individual Title I student.
  • Maintains individual records for each Title I student.
  • Assists in the operating and caring for equipment, both general and Title I fund, used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
  • Assists with the supervision of Title I students in the classroom, the playground, on field trips, and in other activities.
  • Collaboratively prepares instructional materials needed for various lessons.
  • Administers, scores, and records such achievement and/or diagnostic tests as the Title I program recommends for individual Title I student assessment; proctors tests and examinations.
  • Tutors individual students; works with small groups of students collaboratively within the classroom.
  • Participates as a member of an instructional team including remediation teams.
  • Collaborates in developing learning centers and classroom displays.
  • Collaboratively assists the teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.
  • Assists, as needed and applicable, Title I students with wash-ups and toilet routines.
  • Maintains an inventory of Title I classroom supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about Title I and other students.
  • Observes and assists individual Title I students experiencing difficulties.
  • Participates in the same professional development activities as the assigned teacher(s).
  • Remains aware of the concept of "incidental inclusion" of non-Title I students.
  • Follows established local, state, and federal Title I guidelines in implementing the program.
  • Assists in the annual needs assessment of Title I students.
  • Submits a monthly article for the Title I Newsletter.
  • Performs related duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal, the Title I Coordinator, and the Superintendent.
