Immediately Job Description Mercer County Elementary School is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-centered Special Education Instructional Assistant to support students with disabilities in both the general education classroom and the resource setting. This individual will work collaboratively with special education teachers, classroom teachers, related service providers, and administrators to help students access instruction, achieve their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, and experience success in the school environment. Essential Responsibilities Provide instructional and behavioral support to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in general education and resource classroom settings. Work under the direction of the special education teacher to implement instructional activities and accommodations outlined in students' IEPs. Assist students individually and in small groups with academic tasks, organization, and skill development. Support students in developing independence, self-advocacy, and positive social interactions. Reinforce classroom expectations and implement behavior support strategies as directed. Assist with monitoring student progress and documenting observations for the special education teacher. Collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff to ensure students receive appropriate supports throughout the school day. Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with federal, state, and district guidelines. Assist with classroom organization, instructional materials, and preparation of learning activities. Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional times as assigned. Perform other duties related to supporting students and the special education program as assigned.
