WAIVER Announcement:

Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Bullitt County Public Schools is requesting a waiver to fill this position before the standard 15-day posting period to ensure we are fully staffed for the upcoming school year. BMS is looking for a caring, compassionate, student centered individual to join our MSD team. This individual needs to be organized, flexible, a team player and willing to support the needs of all students at BMS. We are looking for someone with experience with children with special needs including moderate severe and emotional behavior disorders. This individual will be able to help students to engage in their learning experiences. We believe that creating a positive, loving environment for every student, every day, will create a legacy of excellence in our community and in their future.

Position Details Hours:

6.5 hours per day (plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)

Contract Length:

183 days per year 170 student instructional days

4 holidays

7 planning days

2 extended days

Contract Adjustments:

Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date

Employment Status:

Full-time with benefits

Employment Type:

10-month employee on the classified salary schedule.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:
Must meet one of the following:

48 college semester hours

An Associate's Degree OR

High school diploma plus a passing score on the Paraeducator Assessment Exam.

Documentation:

Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire.

Compensation & Experience Credit

2026-2027 pay scale

Step 0: $16.46

Step 10: $20.26

We value experience! Previous experience working with students, intervention systems, and small-group instruction is strongly desired.

Experience Credit:

New employees may transfer up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience.

Note:

It is the employee's responsibility to submit the BCPS Verification of Experience form to previous employers.

Payroll Note:

While this is an hourly position, the salary is distributed via a year-long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June.

Salary Formula:

Hours per day × Hourly rate = Daily rate Daily rate × Contracted days = Annual salary. Annual salary ÷ Remaining pay periods = Gross biweekly pay
