Job Description

St. Martin's Episcopal School in Metairie is seeking a passionate and dedicated Lower School Assistant Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026-2027 academic school year. We are looking for an educator who loves inspiring young learners in an environment where they feel safe, supported, and encouraged to explore, grow, and build confidence. This is a full-time, academic year position (August-May). About the Role We are seeking a caring, dependable, and engaging Lower School Assistant Teacher to support our early childhood classrooms. This role works closely with the lead teacher to create a warm, structured, and joyful learning environment for our youngest students. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being fully present with children and supporting their academic, social, and emotional development throughout the day. Qualifications College degree required; background in early childhood or education preferred Understanding of young child development A patient, positive, and team-oriented approach Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to be flexible, proactive, and dependable in a classroom setting Comfort with basic technology and classroom tools Physical stamina to actively engage with young children throughout the day At St. Martin's, you'll be part of a supportive faculty where relationships matter.
