Extended School Year - Teaching Assistants Arlington, MA Job Details $25 an hour 4 hours ago Qualifications Student record keeping Special education Filing Mid-level Schedule management Classroom experience Classroom Teaching IEP implementation Special Education Certification Teaching Full Job Description The Student Services Department is now accepting applications for summer employment in the Extended School Year program (ESY). All current employees are encouraged to apply. Please note that you must be a licensed special education teacher to lead a classroom or SLC classroom. Extended School Year Structure is as follows: ESY will run from July 6 through July 24 , Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. All staff and students will then take a one-week break from July 27-30 . Programming will resume on August 3 and continue Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. through August 13 . Please note that staff preferences regarding grade/age will be honored to the extent possible.
Pay Rates:
$25 per hour for teaching assistants Educators who are instructors in APS summer programs are eligible to enroll their child(ren) in Arlington Community Ed's SummerFun! during the weeks they are teaching. You may enroll your elementary-aged child (grades 1-5, Fall '26) at a 75% discount for non-vendor classes and 30% discount for vendor classes. Materials fees and some classes are excluded. Information about SummerFun! can be found here. Staff Expectations All summer staff will be expected to attend a one (1) hour planning session prior to the end of the school year. Details to come. For teachers and related service providers, planning time is not compensated separately as it is built into the daily rate paid during the summer session. Professional staff will be expected to develop their schedules and have them completed by June 5, 2026, so they can be shared with families before the end of the school year. Staff will need to communicate schedules to families at this time. To ensure consistency of programming and coverage, it is preferred but not required that all teachers and TAs commit to working the full 5 weeks and use the scheduled vacation week for time off. (•see above). Those that cannot are encouraged to apply for substitute positions or find a job share partner. Classroom Teachers and Related Service Providers will collect regular data towards existing IEP goals and report on it in the "Summer Summaries" at the conclusion of the ESY program. Classroom Teachers and Related Service Providers will take and maintain daily attendance. Classroom Teachers and Related Service Providers will complete ALL student summer performance reports by the end of day on the last day of the program, and will provide copies to be filed and mailed as well as uploading the report into EasyIEP. Classroom Teachers and Related Service Providers will combine student performance reports into one document for parent(s) and district file and upload into students electronic file.Preschool Program Coordinator:
