A Teacher Assistant assists classroom teachers by providing extra individual attention and instruction to students. Helps teachers with recordkeeping, preparation for lessons and activities and supervising students. May work with special education students, or work in a school library or computer lab; may be called teacher aide or paraprofessional.
6.5 hours per day; Monday - Friday (32.5 hours/week)
Qualifications:
Experience working with students with autism, special learning needs, emotional, and/or behavioral needs. Ability to teach, mentor, coach, and advocate for students; desire to make a difference in a student's life. Flexibility to meet identified student needs. A strong commitment to the goals, mission, and philosophy of the organization .
Responsibilities:
Assist teacher in delivery of the curriculum, lesson plans, and implementation of IEP goals and objectives; assist in collection of student data. Ensure safety of students in all environments. Understand and deliver appropriate behavioral plan for each student working collaboratively with the teachers and behaviorists. Assist students with school and classroom activities, e.g.: lunch, arrival and dismissal transition, personal care, toileting. Collaborate with SLPs, OTs, PTs, BCBAs, teachers, and social workers Participate in staff meetings and in-service training as requested. All other duties as assigned.
