Position:
Elementary ParaeducatorDescription:
Work with elementary school children, both in general education classrooms and the special education classroom to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and/or physically. Position involves working 1:1 with students, with small groups of students or supporting students within the general education inclusion setting as well as toileting.QUALIFICATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Associates degree, some college credit or passing the paraeducator test.
- Knowledge and understanding of various disabilities
- Knowledge of school classroom procedure, including preparation and maintenance of records.
- Knowledge of special education procedures.
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the Elementary School level.
- Experience working with age-appropriate students in a school setting.
- Support students academically, emotionally, behaviorally, socially in the school setting
- Assist students with toileting as needed
- Ability to follow directions and implement accommodations and modifications as directed by teachers and related service providers
- Ability to collect data consistently
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the principal, special education coordinator, and Director of Student Services.
