Reports to: Building Principal or Designee

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a paraprofessional in CPS who has worked 5+ years in the district and has experience training other new paraprofessionals in the district. A Para Lead will be someone who has demonstrated expertise as a paraprofessional and excitement to teach other paraprofessionals how to be successful in the role.

Lead Para Responsibilities:

Train and guide new paraprofessionals to excel in the position

Introduce the new paraprofessional to staff members and help navigate who to go to for various tasks

Provide information on important dates/ deadlines and guidance on other various topics related to the role

Support with navigating technical issues

Providing support for new paras, who are in the first 2 ears of employment, during the school day (2 half hour sessions per month) and during up to 2 hours per month after the regular work day; the timeframe is designated by the Principal

Keep a log of number of paraprofessional who consulted with the Lead para and the nature of the topics raised.

Track hours on time sheets and submit to the Clerk

Attend 4-6 district-wide meetings throughout the school year

Compensation:

Hourly rate for assigned time after school by the Principal. Lead Paras will also receive $100 per month during the school year (up to 10 months).
