About This Job:
The Teacher Assistant supports the lead teacher in creating a positive and effective learning environment for all students. This role is crucial in helping students achieve success and develop essential life skills. The Teacher Assistant actively participates in classroom activities, provides individualized support to students, and assists with tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the classroom.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists the lead teacher in implementing plans and activities. Provides one-on-one and small group support to students to reinforce learning concepts. Monitors and manages student behavior to maintain a positive and safe classroom environment. Supports students by providing guidance and encouragement. Collaborates with the lead teacher and other staff members to address student needs. Communicates effectively with students, and staff to foster a supportive learning community
Required Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required . Associate's degree or higher in education or a related field is preferred .
Experience:
Prior experience working in special education setting is plus .
Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrates strong classroom management skills. Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills . Displays patience and empathy when working with students. Maintains strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Demonstrates the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and staff. Understands and applies behavior management techniques. Associates preferred, High School Diploma required Training or experience teaching skills to a students who have mental health diagnoses and/or developmental disabilities A valid driver's license Undergo Massachusetts Background record check process Reliable transportation to residential homes located in Massachusetts Physical and mental capacity to work in stressful situations and de-escalate individuals who have limited cognition and complex needs
