Job Description
The Sage School is seeking a caring, flexible, and dependable Part-Time Kindergarten Assistant Teacher to support our Kindergarten classroom during the 2026-2027 school year. This position is approximately 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and plays an important role in helping to maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment while supporting students through hands-on, student-centered learning experiences.
The Kindergarten Assistant Teacher will work closely with the Classroom Teacher to support curriculum implementation, classroom routines, student learning, and social-emotional development. This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys working with young learners and is interested in gaining experience in an elementary school setting within a collaborative and supportive community.
At Sage, Kindergarten students engage in challenging, student-centered learning designed to foster curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and a love of learning. The Assistant Teacher supports the Classroom Teacher in providing an environment that responds to the needs of gifted learners and diverse learning profiles.
The Sage School is an independent school serving toddlers through Grade 8, enrolling approximately 150 gifted and advanced students in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Responsibilities
Support Curriculum Implementation
Support the Classroom Teacher in implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities.
Support the Classroom Teacher in providing engaging, student-centered learning experiences.
Supervision and Care
Supervise students during activities and ensure their safety and well-being.
Assist in maintaining a positive and orderly classroom environment, including managing transitions, guiding behavior, and resolving conflicts in a warm, structured, and engaging manner.
Employ a restorative approach to establish and maintain a positive and respectful classroom culture that encourages active participation, collaboration, and mutual respect among students.
Contribute to providing a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
Support students in developing foundational social and emotional skills, fostering independence, and encouraging curiosity.
Assessment and Documentation
Help observe and document students' development to provide individualized support and maintain accurate records of their progress, behaviors, and achievements.
Parental Communication
Collaborate with the Classroom Teacher to support open and effective communication with parents, keeping them informed about their child's academic progress, activities, and any concerns that may arise.
Collaborate with the Classroom Teacher and parents to support the educational and social development of students.
Extracurricular Involvement
Participate in and contribute to extracurricular activities, events, and school programs that enhance the overall school community.
